DADA Charitable Foundation Fund | DADA Charitable Foundation Fund Grantmaking Guidelines A fund of the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan |
About the Fund The Detroit Auto Dealers Association Charitable Foundation Fund is a fund of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan. The DADA Charitable Fund was established at the Community Foundation in 1998 by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA), a trade association representing more than 250 automobile dealers and 240 dealerships in metropolitan Detroit.
The DADA Charitable Fund provides support to nonprofit organizations in the seven-county southeast Michigan region, with a primary focus on charitable organizations and activities that assist children and youth. The fund is supported by proceeds from the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Charity Preview.
For years, the DADA has provided millions of dollars in support of 10 metro Detroit children's charities through the Charity Preview. The DADA Charitable Fund provides an additional way for more than 250 individual DADA members to give back to their community.
Grants from the Fund Each year, charitable organizations from throughout the region submit proposals for grants from the DADA Charitable Fund to support worthy programs to improve and enhance the lives of children and youth. Approximately 10 grants typically ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 are awarded from the fund annually. As the DADA Charitable Foundation Fund grows, the Community Foundation may award more and/or larger grants from the fund.
Who May Apply Any 501(c)(3) nonpofit organization in southeast Michigan may apply for a grant from the Charitable Fund. Southeast Michigan is defined as the seven counties of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, St. Clair and Livingston. Proposals may be submitted for support of projects from all types of nonprofit organizations, including human service, education, arts and culture, environment, recreation, health and public affairs. The 10 nonprofit organizations that traditionally receive support from the Charity Preview are ineligible. Please note that the fund does not award grants to host or sponsor events.
How to Apply Potential applicants are encouraged to contact the Community Foundation to discuss a proposed project before submitting a proposal. Please call 1-888-WE-ENDOW (888-933-6369) and ask to speak with a program officer.
A specific application form or format is not required. Potential applicants should consult the Community Foundation's "Guidelines for Grantmaking" document for additional information on the appropriate content and supporting material for a proposal. Two copies of the grant proposal should be sent directly to the Community Foundation.
Timetable Grant proposals are due to the Community Foundation by April 15. Grant awards are typically announced each September.
